The vertical dimension must be added to the horizontal dimension

The vertical dimension must be added to the horizontal dimension

How important it is in these days that we are living that we continually allow the Lord to correct and strengthen our perspective. Our perspective is how we see things. If we see things predominately “horizontally”, then fear and panic will be the perspective that we have of the world around us, and we will act accordingly. This is why we must continually ask the Lord to correct and strengthen our perspective so that there is a “vertical” dimension added to the “horizontal” dimension.  Consider this scripture”

2Ki 6:15  When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and

chariots was all around the city.  And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

2Ki 6:16  He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

2Ki 6:17  Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.”

So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold,

the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Elisha’s servant saw the Syrian Army, and what he saw was they were completely surrounded. His perspective was a “horizontal” perspective. He saw what was going on in the natural. Elisha also saw the Syrian army, but also saw the “vertical” perspective of the angelic army that was a more sizable force than the Syrian Army. The Angelic army was positioned so that in a moment they could have easily overtaken and overpowered the small Syrian army. The Syrian army was not small at first in the mind of the servant of Elisha, he was scared to death, but when he saw this huge larger Angelic force that was positioned to take out the Syrian army in a moment should they receive the command from Heaven to do so, the servant of Elisha realized that the Syrian army was no threat whatsoever. Today there are so many people who have only a “horizontal’ Perspective. All they see is the chaos and the riots and the social, moral, and spiritual decay that seems as if it has overtaken our land. But is that really all that is going on? NOT HARDLY!!! If our perspective is only like the servant of Elisha then we all should be afraid and in panic just like he was. But that is not all that is going on my brothers and sisters. Our Great and Mighty God is always at work. We must continually allow the Lord to correct our perspective by adding to our existing “horizontal” perspective the “vertical” dimension of what our Lord and King is doing. HE is not idle, nor uninvolved in all that is going on. We need the Lord to continually open our eyes to the reality that the Lord has in place and in position Angelic forces that are engaged in the work of the Kingdom reign of King Jesus. They have superior numbers, they have a superior position, and they have superior power over the forces of darkness. Just as those angels were there to assist Elisha and protect him, the angelic forces are all around us to assist and protect as we proclaim the Kingdom of our King Jesus. When I read these verses the only one scared was the servant of Elisha BEFORE THE LORD OPENED HIS EYES. Elisha wasn’t scared, and neither should we be if we are allowing the Lord to add to our perspective the “vertical” perspective and dimension which is Heavens perspective. We need to ask ourselves, if I were to be standing in the third heaven with Jesus and His mighty angels what would they be saying and what would their perspective be? My brothers and sisters, we must train ourselves spiritually to see things from above. For the believer this is the right perspective. It doesn’t mean that we do not clearly see the “horizontal” perspective, but like the story in 2Kings 6, we must have the perspective that those with us are MORE than those with them. We must always be determined to not let anyone strip away our “vertical” perspective by over-emphasizing the “horizontal” perspective, or de-emphasizing the “vertical” perspective. Our King Jesus is at work, and He, the angels, and the saints of God always have superior position, superior authority, and superior power.

2Ki 6:17  Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.”

So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold,

the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Be encouraged my brothers and sisters.
