America, make God great again!

America, make God great again!

There is a political slogan that we hear quite often, especially since it is an election year, and that is “Make America Great Again.” As we were praying earlier this week for revival a new slogan came to my heart and mind. I realized that it is more than a slogan, because slogans come and go. It really is the yearning and cry of my heart, and I believe the yearning and cry of your heart as we continue to pray for revival. This is what came to me, “AMERICA, MAKE GOD GREAT AGAIN.  Is not this the prayer that we continue to offer as we intercede for our country and for our city, that our LORD God and King would once again be great in the hearts and minds of the people of our generation? John Hancock, one of our founding fathers, called the State of Massachusetts to prayer in 1784. In His Proclamation for a day of Public Thanksgiving he prayed…..“that all nations may bow to the scepter of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that the whole earth may be filled with His glory” Four years later in another proclamation for a day of Public Thanksgiving in 1788 he prayed……”that the spiritual kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ may be continually increasing until the whole earth shall be filled with His glory.” Doesn’t it stir our hearts my brothers and sisters when we read that one of our founding fathers was not as interesting in making America great, but he was more interested that the new citizens of this newly born country would make God Great, that the Lordship of Christ Jesus would be preeminent. There are many other quotations from our founding fathers that make it so very clear that they wanted Americans to make God Great and that His Greatness and Glory would continue to every generation. To that our hearts say AMEN! King David said this in 1Ch 29:11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Is not this the praise and worship of our hearts, the exalting of His Greatness, His Power, and His Glory? We live in a time of spiritual decay, and so many do not care to honor the LORD or to give Him glory. This is why we pray for revival, that God would be great again in the hearts of the people of our generation and here in Georgetown. The Lord spoke through Ezekiel a promise that I hope will be the prayer and the intercession of our hearts. Eze 38:23  So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD. Holy Spirit come and bring revival to our city, to our church, and to each of us individually. That our Lord, King Jesus would be made Great Again in our day, in our hearts and in all that we do……In Jesus name and for His sake Amen and Amen.
