A fresh new focus on prayer.

A fresh new focus on prayer.

The faith which creates powerful praying is the faith which centers itself on a powerful person. Faith in Christ’s ability to do and to do greatly, is the faith which prays greatly (E.M Bounds on Prayer.) Does this not stir your hearts my brothers and sisters to want to pray powerfully? Powerful praying is not mysterious or something that is only available to certain special Christians, but to all the people of God. Listen to what James says….Jas 5:17.18  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. Elijah prayed powerfully because his faith, and his prayers were focused on the powerful person he was praying to…. the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY. James makes the point here that Elijah was like us, and he prayed fervently. Fervent prayer sees the power and largeness of God and is able to pray extraordinary powerful prayers. James is encouraging us that it was not the prayer of an extraordinary man that produced the results it was the powerful person Elijah prayed to that caused the rain to stop and then start again when he prayed again.  E.M Bounds is 100% correct when he says powerful praying focuses and centers itself on the Powerful Person of Christ. If our faith is in our faith, then we will fail. If our faith is in the methodology or saying special words or the mechanics of prayer, then we will fail. But if we can see and focus on THE PERSON who is All Powerful, how can we not pray powerfully when He is the center of every prayer. When HE is center and focus of every petition, every intercession and every request, our faith and prayers will become powerful like Elijah, because Elijah’s prayers were centered on God. My brothers and sisters, I believe in the days ahead, that God is birthing in our church a fresh new focus on prayer, and not just prayer, but powerful prayer. Prayer that will be powerful because it is centered on the Powerful Person of Christ Jesus. May the greatness and the power of our Lord and Savior be multiplied and magnified to our hearts and minds so that we can boldly pray like never before. May we have the faith to pray greatly because our focus is on the Powerful Person we are praying to. We need to have our minds recalibrated and readjusted at times when our thoughts and our way of thinking reduces the size of God to only what we can comprehend. He is bigger than that. Praise His Name. Will you join me and invite the Holy Spirit to remove and erase “small thoughts” about God and replace them with faith filled thoughts of our God, this powerful person to whom nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible. To Him be all Power, Glory and Honor. Amen.
